Last May, the Grande New York first started to call Israel’s Ashdod and Haifa seaports. Within its maiden voyage, the ship was welcomed, in the best seafaring tradition, by water jets from tugboats at both ports, and in Haifa Port, they went further by launching a special drone that escorted the ship when it entered the port.
The Grande New York joined the fleet in 2017, is 200 meters long and can carry about 6700 vehicles. This is one of the largest vessels operating on the Adriatic line connecting the Adriatic seaports to East Mediterranean ports, and the vessel called the following ports Ravenna, Venice, Monofalcone, Koper, Piraeus, Ashdod, Haifa, Alexandria, Izmir, Gemlik and Limassol.
The extensive activity in Israel is a result of a strong relationship over many years with Allalouf Shipping, which represents Grimaldi Group in Israel for more than 54 years.
Gil Miller, CEO of Allalouf Shipping: “We are happy that the new vessel joined the lucrative Adriatic line,
significantly upgrading our logistic capabilities and providing our customers an excellent solution for special transport and large scale engineering projects, which can arrive in Israel on a single vessel, fully assembled and thus saving expensive assembly costs on-site”.
Alitche Frankel, VP Marketing Haifa Port: I am happy that Grimaldi’s large new vessel has arrived. The Grande New York’s arrival today in Haifa Port in this challenging period proves the importance that Haifa Port assigns to the vehicle import sector and the excellent cooperation between Allalouf and Grimaldi and Haifa Port. In the vehicle import field, we are also continuing to provide excellent service at full speed”.
The Grimaldi Group’s RO-RO vessels are multipurpose vessels that
